ABOUT ME
My name is Kenley Kuoch and I am a manager of practice and standards, researcher, and science communicator from Melbourne, Australia.

My doctoral research investigated the bladder and bowel anxiety conditions known as paruresis, parcopresis, and incontinence anxiety.

Aims of my research included development of a validated symptom severity scale for incontinence anxiety, investigation of socio-cognitive models of paruresis, parcopresis, and incontinence anxiety, exploration of the similarities and differences across the aforementioned anxiety conditions, and development of clinical resources for General Practitioners (GPs) for the identification and management of bladder and bowel anxieties.

Through my research, I created resources for scientists and clinicians to help them better understand, identify, and examine paruresis, parcopresis, and incontinence anxiety in their research participants and/or patients.

During my PhD candidature, I also co-found and was vice president of the Higher Degrees by Research – Health Sciences Student Association (HDR-HeSSA). Together with a group of PhD students, this association was created to provide a network for HDR and professional health science students at Swinburne University, where networking and learning opportunities are provided. I served as vice president in the 2017 committee.

Outside my research activities, I have worked as a volunteer mental health counsellor.
I also have experience working as a policy associate in the intellectual disability field.

In addition to my psychology training, I also have qualifications in infectious disease epidemiology.
